Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub last year, died as a result of being immersed in water and a drug intoxication, according to a medical examiner.
The results were made public Friday — on what would have been her 23rd birthday.
Brown — the only daughter of late pop icon Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown — had been placed in a medically induced coma after she was found by her boyfriend in her suburban Atlanta townhouse on Jan. 31, 2015. She died in hospice care in July.
Brown’s death is eerily similar to that of Houston, who was found dead in her Beverly Hills hotel suite bathtub in 2012 at age 48.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office said alcohol and marijuana played a part in Brown’s death, as well as morphine and medications used for sedation or treating anxiety found in her body.
The medical examiner could not determine if the morphine was related to any heroin use.
The official statement on the cause of death was released after a judge on Thursday granted a media request for access to her autopsy report.
