The Make A Wish Foundation teamed up with the city of San Francisco on Friday to bring Gotham City to life and fulfill one 5-year-old’s dream of being Batman for the day.
Miles, a 5-year-old battling leukemia, saved damsels from doom on the trolley tracks, stopped a robbery by the Riddler, and took back beloved mascot Lou Seal from the clutches of The Penguin — all on a livestream and in front of a crowd of thousands of people. Make A Wish National Communications Manager Josh deBerge told msnbc.com, “We’re thrilled by the outpouring of support, that people see this as something they can get behind…I can hear the smile on their face when they’re talking about this wish.”
The smiles made their way to Twitter on Friday, as lawmakers — the president included! — joined the chorus of cheers for Batkid’s heroic deeds of the day. After all, even Washington needs saving from themselves sometimes.
