There was always a question taking shape in Ah-Kee Flonnory Jr.’s mind. The 16-year-old boy often inquired about mechanics; he enjoyed taking apart and restoring his mountain, dirt, and DMX bicycles in the garage. When he wasn’t busy working with his hands, he rode his bicycle around the neighborhood with his younger brother. Even as a teenager, he wasn’t embarrassed to spend time with his siblings. In fact, he was protective of his two younger brothers, and especially watched over his three older sisters.
Ah-Kee was born in Newark, Del., and was raised in Wilmington, Del. He frequently listened to Meek Mill, a hip-hop recording artist from Philadelphia, Pa. Ah-Kee was a quiet young man. “If he knew you were comfortable around him, he would be his normal self,” his cousin, Jakeen Flonnory, told msnbc.com. “If he didn’t know you, he would be closed in.”
Ah-Kee was walking home on Jan. 26 when he was shot and killed in Wilmington.
