Paper & Glue is a film that challenges viewers’ perceptions by lifting the voices of people and places that are often overlooked. The film is the culmination of years of my work and includes an archive of photography and videos that span back to my adolescence. At the time of many of these recordings, I had no intention or awareness they could be used in this way. To have my work come full circle exemplifies the power of film, and the power of Paper & Glue. I hope this film further uplifts the essentiality of art and the potential it holds to reshape even our most ingrained beliefs. By challenging our expectations of people and places, I hope to change our greater perceptions of the world.
Marc Azoulay

A passionate advocate of art since his young days in Paris, Marc was trained in finance and his first jobs led him to live in Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore and Rio de Janeiro. When in Brazil, where Marc was opening the Latin American branch of a travel start-up, he became director of Casa Amarela, French artist JR’s cultural center on top of the favela Morro da Providência in Rio de Janeiro. In 2011, JR was awarded the TED Prize and Marc joined him in New York, where they opened a studio and launched the Inside Out Project, the largest global participatory art project. Since then, Marc has been his full-time studio director and main producer. He has produced dozens of public art projects, museums exhibitions, short films, books and apps – including: ELLIS, a short film starring Robert De Niro on Ellis Island; a collaboration with New York City Ballet; Kikito, a large-scale installation and gigantic picnic at the US-Mexico border; Tehachapi, a massive collaboration with incarcerated men in a maximum security prison in California; èxhibiitions at SFMOMA and the Brooklyn Museum.

Justin Wilkes is an Academy Award and BAFTA-nominated, multiple Emmy and Peabody-winning producer and the President of Imagine Documentaries. Since the launch of Imagine Docs in 2018, Wilkes has produced Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and the Band (Magnolia Pictures), DADS (Apple TV+), directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, Rebuilding Paradise (National Geographic Documentary Films), directed by Ron Howard, D. Additionally, Justin has recently produced the documentary series, We Are: The Brooklyn Saints (Netflix); On Pointe (Disney +); Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine (Showtime), Gossip (Showtime) and Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel, which reached #1 on Netflix. Wilkes is a veteran in the premium non-scripted television and film world having produced a slate of award-winning projects including Liz Garbus’ Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning film, What Happened, Miss Simone? (Netflix), Joe Berlinger’s Oscar-nominated, Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory, the Emmy-nominated New York Times documentary series The Fourth Estate (Showtime), Emmy-nominated, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman (Netflix), the critically-acclaimed National Geographic series MARS and Hamilton (Disney+).

Dallas has been producing award-winning documentaries for over 20 years. She served as the creative producer on Paper & Glue, a feature documentary directed by the anonymous French artist JR and produced by Imagine Documentaries and Impact Partners (premiere Tribeca Film Festival 2021). The film uses candid verité, personal archive and breathtaking visuals to tell the story of JR’s lifework– making deep and lasting impact through deceptively playful and impermanent public art. Dallas previously wrote and co-produced with Liz Garbus and Story Syndicate The Innocence Files: The Witness–Making Memory for Netflix. Prior to that, she worked with Liz Garbus and Jenny Carchman at Radical Media as the story producer for Showtime’s Emmy-nominated series The Fourth Estate — following The New York Times’ coverage of Donald Trump’s first year in office. She also story-produced Showtime’s follow-up Emmy-nominated short The Family Business: Trump and Taxes, about The New York Times investigation into the Trump family’s fraudulent tax schemes. Dallas has written and story-produced documentary series for National Geographic (Jeff Cooperman/Generation X) and the Paramount Channel (Joe Berlinger/Gone: The Forgotten Women of Ohio) and produced numerous award-winning feature-length documentaries on a variety of topics, including: She has Executive Produced and consulted on numerous other documentary projects. Dallas is a 1997/98 Fulbright Scholar who conducted research on television and national identity in Trinidad, West Indies. She is a graduate of Swarthmore College’s Philosophy Department and is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures.
