After a powerful tornado ravaged Moore, Okla., Monday, killing dozens, stories of remarkable courage, harrowing terror and loss, and a community in need began to emerge from the rubble.

Take the man who helped neighbors pulled a car out of the front hall of an elementary school. Underneath it, a teacher had used her body to shield three young children.
“Good job, teach,” the man said, breaking down into tears. The tornado “ripped our house up. I still got a little girl buried in there.”
Moore Mayor Glenn Lewis shielded employees in the vault of his jewelry store where they were able to survive.
