The final steps to fill a void in the New York City skyline continued Friday morning as workers raised a 408-foot silver spire atop the One World Trade Center building. The 758-ton spire will serve as a world-class broadcast antenna, and its LED-powered light will be seen from miles away.
During the process the spire traveled by barge from Port Newark, N.J., to Pier 25 in lower Manhattan and was installed in sections.
