Tina Brown is calling foul on a New York Post report that alleges her charitable activities are, well, less than charitable.
The Post reported that Brown’s nonprofit Women in the World Foundation has doled out just just $10,000 of the $1.2 million it has raised, but the media maven called the story a “grotesque misrepresentation.”
“It’s insane, we’ve given away over a million in grants to women of impact, as we call them,” Brown said on Morning Joe Friday. “We also have the balance of that money, $500,000, to Vital Voices,” a group the Women in the World is merging with soon to combine efforts.
Brown is leaving The Daily Beast after five years as the online magazine’s top editor. She will form Tina Brown Live Media, which will produce live events, discussions, and debates–“theatrical journalism,” as she puts it–like the Women in the World conference she has organized since 2010 and which sparked the formation of the foundation.
