Lena Dunham’s first time was with Barack Obama. Well, her first time voting, that is.
That innuendo is the tongue-in-cheek premise in a controversial new campaign ad featuring the 26-year-old Dunham.
The writer and actress describes her first time voting as if it were just another soul-baring confessional on her HBO cult-drama Girls. “Your first time shouldn’t be with just anybody” she says in the ad. “You want to do it with a great guy.”
The video highlights Obama’s support of gender pay equity in the Lilly Ledbetter Act (“You don’t want a guy who says, ‘Oh hey, I’m out studying’ when really he’s out not signing the Lilly Ledbetter Act,” she says.) along with the presidents strides in promoting women’s health and contraception coverage.
