Who says Congress isn’t hip?
This morning Willie showed us that Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada is on the pulse of pop culture.
Reid declined to answer a reporter’s question in saying, “I don’t want to answer that question – that’s a clown question bro”.

Last week, after the Washington National’s Bryce Harper hit a game-winning home run he found himself in a slightly awkward situation. A Toronto television reporter stepped into it by asking the 19-year-old star outfielder “Bryce you know, of course in Canada, you are of legal drinking age, a celebratory Canadian beer would seem to make sense after a hit like that. Favorite beer?”
Harper is a Mormon (no alcohol), but he’s also below the legal drinking age in his home of the U.S.
Harper wrote about his faith in his book “The Last Natural: Bryce Harper’s Big Gamble in Sin City and the Greatest Amateur Season Ever.” After, a swift rebuke from the team’s PR staff to the reporter to, “Ask something else.” Harper responded, “I’m not answering that. That’s a clown question, bro.” Harper’s comment went viral and for a brief period was the top trending topic on Twitter. So, yesterday when Senator Reid was asked “if you have any intention of bringing the Dream Act to the floor for votes in the next couple of months to put people on the record?” Senator Reid took a long pause and then channeled Bryce Harper receiving a level of laughter from Congressional reporters that C-Span viewers rarely see. I’m honestly loving this “clown question” trend. Anytime anyone asks you something you deem insulting or as set-up for you to fail, dismissing them as a clown clearly gives you the power. Then adding the “bro” at the end just makes you seem cooler. Way to go, Senator Reid.
