Former President Bill Clinton is starring in a new TV advertisement for fellow Democrat Marjorie Margolies, who is also his daughter Chelsea’s mother-in-law.
“If you send Marjorie to Congress, she’ll make you proud, she’ll vote right,” Clinton says in the new commercial. The video includes footage from when he endorsed Margolies as a congressional candidate earlier this year.
Margolies, who was a close confidant of the Clinton family in the White House, is in the midst of a comeback for the May 20 Democratic congressional primary in Pennsylvania, a choice she made public last May. Previously the former congresswoman was defeated in a brutal midterm election for Democrats around the country in 1994, a year after she cast the deciding vote for Clinton’s budget.
The seat is being vacated by current Rep. Allyson Schwartz, a Democrat who is running for governor. Margolies faces State Sen. Daylin Leach, State Rep. Brendan Boyle and physician Val Arkoosh in the election.
