There would be huge economic savings if more doctors used online records and prevented leakage for when patients move, said Jonathan Bush, CEO of Athenahealth, Wednesday.
“The margins for hospitals on the ancillary diagnostics—like mammograms—are enormous. They can break even on that stuff,” he said.
Most blood tests are probably conducted twice with no adverse consequences to repeating the procedure. Doctors use old software systems and use offline records, which is a huge problem, Bush said on Morning Joe.
