This Saturday in #nerdland: The war on terror and what it means to be wartime President, the mistrial in the Freddie Gray case, and the prospect for change in Baltimore’s voter turnout.
This week, our special guest host, Joy Reid, will be filling in for Melissa Harris-Perry in Nerdland.
We’ll start by looking at the new showdown between Bernie Sanders and the Democratic National Committee just ahead of the last Democratic presidential debate of the year.
We’ll also have a roundtable discussion about the anti-terror strategies mentioned by GOP presidential candidates in Tuesday’s debate. How effective are these strategies? How are these proposals different from what President Obama is currently doing?
As ISIS continues to dominate the discussion on the political landscape, it is also surging on the internet. Previous terror threats have never been as organized online as ISIS which leads us to a series of new questions. How do we counter online ISIS propaganda? As tech companies look to protect the privacy of their clients, how does the government team up with these companies to address this problem?
Then we’ll discuss the latest in the Freddie Gray case. How will the mistrial in the case of one of the officers affect the cases of the other five officers? Joy will talk to our panel about that and other issues facing Baltimore including the role its civil courts are playing in the city’s housing crisis.
