The National Organization for Women is no fan of Richard Mourdock.
Terry O’Neil, the president of the women’s equality group, ripped the Indiana Republican senate hopeful—under fire for suggesting rape pregnancies are “something that God intended to happen” as an argument against abortion—as “wildly out of step with the vast majority in the country.”
“Over 80 percent say, no, the restriction should not be there in cases of incest or rape or to preserve a women’s health,” she said
Hardball host Chris Matthews played a new ad by Team Obama, declaring Mitt Romney’s running mate Paul Ryan holds the same position as Mourdock. Ryan is seen saying in an interview that the “method of conception doesn’t change the definition of life.”
Matthews said he was troubled by the notion of turning religion into law and the impulse of “punishing women.”
