President Obama will nominate White House chief of staff Jack Lew to be the next Treasury Secretary. Lew would replace Timothy Geithner, who’s been there since the start of Obama’s first term. And as a budget guy, Lew is uniquely positioned to help tackle the country’s fiscal problems.
If Jack Lew signs the dollar bill the way he signs his name, we’ll have a very unusual signature to enjoy the next few years.
Vice President Joe Biden meets with the NRA today to formulate the administration’s new policy on guns. As you might imagine, expectations aren’t very high for much agreement between the vice president and the nation’s most powerful gun advocacy lobbying group. Yesterday, Biden met gun control advocates and vowed action.
Meanwhile, former president Bill Clinton denounced high capacity weapons, calling such guns “nuts”. And on the other side, Rush Limbaugh stoked fear, warning of a gun grab.
