Sorry right-wingers, the rumors are not true. Ronald Reagan’s childhood home isn’t being torn down to make room for a parking lot for President Obama’s library.
On Wednesday, the internet was buzzing about the University of Chicago, where officials supposedly decided to demolish the apartment in the neighborhood of Hyde Park where the former president spent part of his childhood.
A number of publications ran with the story, including London’s Daily Mail and the Washington Times.
White House Press Secretary squelched the rumors, tweeting, “To those chasing the Mail Online ‘scoop’ about alleged Obama library parking lot–stand down. The report is false. Shocking, I know.”
