When you were a child, your teachers may have told you that it’s always good to ask questions. Heaven only knows what Louie Gohmert’s teachers told him.
Is President Obama attempting to create a second Ottoman empire in the United States? Could it be that Huma Abedin, one of Hillary Clinton’s closest aides, was helping members of the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrate the government?
Far-right Texas Congressman Gohmert has asked all those questions in the last few years, and also supplied the answers (which are “Yes,” in case you hadn’t guessed).
Now, what if he asked whether the Second Amendment effectively provides protection from the threat of an Islamic caliphate in the United States? He in fact did raise that rhetorical question on Thursday on “Voice of America,” an internet radio program. “We’ve got some people who think Sharia Law should be the law of the land, forget the Constitution,” he said. “But the guns are there… to make sure all of the rest of the Amendments are followed,” Gohmert explained.
