President Obama launched his “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative Thursday, geared toward getting non-profits to pledge $200 million over the next five years for the advancement and enrichment of young men of color.
“I made bad choices. I got high without always thinking about the harm that it could do. I didn’t always take school as seriously as I should have. I made excuses. Sometimes I sold myself short,” Obama said in the East Room of the White House. “And the only difference was that I grew up in an environment that was a little bit more forgiving.”
