GOP presidential candidate Marco Rubio released his first TV ad with a bold message on national security.
“What happened in Paris could happen here,” Rubio says in the video, referring to the terrorist attacks in France this month.
Rubio says we are facing a “civilizational struggle between the values of freedom and liberty, and radical Islamic terror.”
His message is clear: there is no negotiating option.
“There is no middle ground,” he says. “These aren’t disgruntled or disempowered people. These are radical terrorists who want to kill us because we let women drive, because we let girls go to school.”
“Either they win, or we do,” he concluded. The ad will air nationally beginning on Tuesday.
Appearing on Fox News on Sunday, Rubio said national security is the most important responsibility of the president.
“The world has become a very dangerous place,” Rubio said. “I’m focusing on national security.” Rubio described his four-point plan to defeat ISIS in a Politico article on Thursday. Firstly, he wrote, he would stop accepting refugees from Syria and increase intelligence gathering abroad. He is among the politicians who supports the bill passed by the House of Representatives on Thursday to make stricter requirements for refugees coming to America. The other points in his plan include sending troops into Iraq and Syria to fight ISIS along side a multinational coalition, providing military support for Sunnis and Kurds in Iraq and declaring a no-fly zone over Syria.
