Brand new research out of Harvard University shows Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and other Republicans were DEAD WRONG about those so-called “death panels.”
It turns out the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), President Obama’s health care law, actually helps people to live longer.
The study, just published in The New England Journal of Medicine, reveals that when states increased Medicaid coverage, death rates dropped.
Take a look at this chart. Tthe green line shows coverage going up. The red line shows death rates going down:
But the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on June 28 that states can opt out of the health care law’s Medicaid expansion, scheduled for 2014. And about a dozen Republican governors are boasting that they will indeed do so. But if Medicaid expansion saves lives, then won’t those governors become the real “death panel”?
