Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) eviscerated the food stamp president on the floor of the house yesterday, but it’s not who Newt Gingrich says it is.
It’s not President Obama Gutierrez is taking to task, it’s George W. Bush. Representative Gutierrez is right to point out that nearly half a million more people signed up for food assistance programs under President Bush than Obama.
He’s also right that the most of food stamp recipients are either children or the elderly and that the majority of people are people on food stamps are white. Maybe instead of going in front of the NAACP, Newt Gingrich should go back the the floor of the house whenever Representative Gutierrez in speaking again. He might learn something.
