Birtherism is alive and well.
At a fundraiser this week, Colorado Representative Mike Coffman told supporters “I don’t know whether Barack Obama was born in the United States of America. I don’t know that. But I do know this, that in his heart, he’s not an American. He’s just not an American.”
Coffman has since retracted his statement saying he “misspoke.”
Now the folks over at Breitbart.com are at it again. They say they’ve obtained a 1991 promotional booklet that “touts Obama as born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.”
According to the site they have obtained 1991 documents used to promote Obama’s first book “Journeys in Black and White,” The documents include a bio that reads “Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.”
Barack Obama released his long form birth certificate in April last year after intense scrutiny from some on the right, including Donald Trump. Some are apparently still unconvinced. Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio launched his own investigation declaring the birth certificate a “forgery.” Missouri Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (R) told supporters she had “a lot of doubts about” Obama’s birth certificate at a recent town hall. Congressman Cliff Stearns (R) of Florida wondered if the certificate was even “legitimate,” at a town hall in February. For some reason some on the right have a hard time accepting that Barack Obama was born in the United States. It seems like Birtherism will never die.
