A flash flood emergency has been declared in Houston, Texas where hundreds are stranded due to slow-moving torrential downpours throughout the area.
According to the Harris County Flood Watch, some parts of Harris County has received over 10 inches of rain stranding hundreds of people. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has declared a state of disaster in 24 counties and has asked people not to leave their homes during this time. “This is the biggest flood this area of Texas has ever seen,” Governor Abbott said, according to Reuters. “It is absolutely massive – the relentless tsunami-type power of this wave of water.”
