Legendary actor turned off-script political commentator Clint Eastwood is back sharing his two-cents on the presidential elections, but don’t worry, this time he’s not yelling at any empty chairs or any invisible presidents.
The Karl Rove-led super PAC American Crossroads released a new television ad on Wednesday featuring the 82-year-old Hollywood icon. The ad is Eastwood’s latest public appearance since his panned turn at the Republican National Convention this August where he went on a rambling tirade onstage, attacking an empty chair that was presumed to be an invisible President Obama.
“Through the last few years, America’s been knocked down: 23 million people can’t find full-time work, and we borrow $4 billion every single day, much of it from China,” Eastwood says in the 30-second spot.
The ad is reminiscent of Eastwood’s highly-acclaimed Super Bowl half-time commercial for Chrysler that praised the economic recovery in Detroit with the driving mantra that the “country cannot be knocked out by one punch.”
