Finally, a good reason to wear something ugly.
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) has launched its second Ugly Sweater campaign where money raised goes directly toward cancer research. “[SU2C is] already on track to make more than we did last year, which was over $250,000,” Pamela Williams, SU2C Council of Founders and Advisors, told MSNBC.com.
Cancer affects all of us so by wearing an ugly sweater it is a way for everyone to get involved. “Not everyone is going to want to run a 5K,” Williams said. “This is a fun and easy way to get everyone involved.” According to the American Cancer Society website “cancer remains the second most common cause of death in the U.S. accounting for nearly one of every four deaths.”
On Wednesday the Cyclists donned their own ugly sweaters for the show. “We’re happy to wear ugly sweaters on The Cycle as part of this important cause, and to support all the people working on the search for a cure,” Cycle co-host Ari Melber said.
There are two ways you can participate: Either pledge to wear your “ugly” sweater and have family and friends donate each time that you wear it during the holiday season or you can throw an ugly sweater party and urge your guests to donate to your Ugly Sweater fundraising page.
