In a hypothetical one-on-one match-up between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Christie’s numbers are plummeting in the aftermath of the ‘Bridgegate‘ scandal according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.
Back in December Governor Christie led Secretary Clinton by one percentage point, but he is now trailing the former secretary of state 46% to 38% in a potential 2016 general election match-up.
The biggest reason for this turnaround is support among independents. Back in December, they favored Governor Christie 47 to 32 percent but now are favoring Hillary Clinton 41 to 40 percent.
