For the first time in Barbie’s 56-year history she is kicking off those heals and adorning flats. The new Barbie Fashionista line by Matter gives Barbie adjustable ankles allowing her to switch from pumps to ballet flats.
“The Barbie Fashionistas line was designed to represent the world girls see around them. With twenty-three dolls that feature 14 different facial sculpts, 8 skin tones, 18 eye colors, and 23 hair colors with fashions reflecting authentic street style,” a Mattel spokesperson told MSNBC.com. “This line represents a continued evolution of the Barbie brand.”
Since the iconic doll’s creation in 1959 she has continued to evolve and inspire girls to follow their dreams. Barbie’s Instagram account features pictures of the iconic doll wearing flats emphasizing that no matter what you wear on your feet you are awesome!
