Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s (R) trespassing charge comes at a horrible time for his congressional campaign, and will force him to make a court appearance filing a complaint from his ex-wife.
* Perhaps hoping to change the subject, Sanford’s team unveiled a new attack ad this morning, criticizing Elizabeth Colbert Busch (D) for her support of labor unions.
* Not surprisingly given the circumstances, the Democratic and Republican candidates running in Massachusetts’ U.S. Senate special election have put their campaigns on hold. Their respective primaries are, however, on April 30 — a week from Tuesday.
