Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* The Obama campaign released a new video this morning, asking regular people to read Mitt Romney’s explanation of why he wasn’t responsible for the actions of his own company.
* For its part, the Romney campaign has a new ad, pushing the “cronyism” line that is still unsupported by the facts.
* The DNC finds a way to connect Romney’s evasiveness on Bain and tax returns to Romney’s dressage horses in a new video.
* A WMUR Granite State Poll released yesterday shows President Obama’s lead over Romney at just four points, 49% to 45%, down from a nine-point margin in April.
* Similarly, PPP shows Obama leading Romney in Iowa by just five points, 48% to 43%, down from a 10-point lead in May.
* The British Parliament wants scandal-plagued Barclays executives to “concentrate entirely on repairing confidence” in the banking system, and stop donating so much money to Romney. * Obama spoke to supporters in San Antonio yesterday, and was cheered when he said, “You’re not considered one of the battleground states, although that’s going to be changing soon.” Demographic trends do not help the GOP. * The Priorities USA Action super PAC has reserved $2.2 million in ad time in Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia through September, but that total will be easily swamped by Republican super PACs. * On a related note, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is making an ad buy of an undisclosed size in support of Republican U.S. Senate candidates in Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, and North Dakota.
