* A rare officer conviction: “A former Texas police officer was found guilty of murder on Tuesday for shooting into a car carrying a group of teenagers, killing a 15-year-old boy. Roy Oliver, who is white, was found guilty in the death of high school freshman Jordan Edwards, who was black.”
* NAFTA talks: “Canada’s foreign minister cut short a trip to Europe and rushed to Washington on Tuesday as President Trump’s top trade advisers reiterated that the United States is prepared to leave Canada out of a revised North American Free Trade Agreement with Mexico.”
* I’ll have more on this tomorrow: “A proposal to rename the Senate’s oldest office building for John McCain has received bipartisan support, but the effort appeared to slow Tuesday as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced he will form a bipartisan panel to solicit ideas on the best way to honor the late Arizona senator.”
* I hope you saw Rachel’s coverage of this last night: “Paul Manafort’s defense team held talks with prosecutors to resolve a second set of charges against the former Trump campaign chairman before he was convicted last week, but they didn’t reach a deal, and the two sides are now moving closer to a second trial next month, according to people familiar with the matter.”
* Interesting report on Devin Nunes’ recent London trip: “The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee flew to London to gather intel on Christopher Steele, the former British intelligence officer who compiled the dossier alleging Trump-campaign ties with Russia. But MI5, MI6, and GCHQ didn’t seem interested.” * File this away for future reference: “NASA Administrator James Bridenstine is all but guaranteeing his agency will soon be back in the business of carrying humans into low-Earth orbit in 2019. ‘Without question, by the middle of next year, we’ll be flying American astronauts on American rockets from American soil,’ he told USA TODAY in an exclusive interview at NASA headquarters.” Anything to add?
