Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* Rick Santorum argued yesterday, “We think this is a two-person race right now.” There’s certainly evidence to back that up.
* Mitt Romney appears to have narrowly won the Maine caucuses, edging past Ron Paul by three percentage points, but some county caucuses were postponed due to a snow storm. One of those counties, in particular, is considered a Paul stronghold, but the state Republican Party has said their votes probably won’t count.
* On a related note, Ron Paul finished fourth in this year’s CPAC straw poll, after winning it in 2010 and 2011. What changed? This year, he and his supporters decided not to try.
* In case you missed it on Friday, Romney told CPAC attendees he was “a severely conservative Republican governor.” No one’s sure what that means, and the line was not part of the prepared text.
