Today’s edition of quick hits.
* In Oklahoma: “More severe weather is on the way for Oklahoma after a weekend of destruction caused by heavy rainfall and a string of tornadoes. At least 11 people were injured and around 100 homes were damaged as a result of a weekend of severe weather. Left in the wake of the tornadoes was damage to several structures, downed power lines, traffic lights and trees, according to the Oklahoma City Fire Department.”
* In the Middle East: “Israeli bombardment damaged an already crippled major hospital in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday, injuring medical staff and patients, local officials said, a week after Israeli forces withdrew from the complex and detained dozens of people, including medical workers.”
* SCOTUS: “The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to decide a thorny legal dispute from Louisiana involving the state’s effort to draw a congressional district map while navigating claims it is unlawfully considering race. The case has no immediate impact on this year’s elections in the state, which is using a map that includes two majority black districts out of six.”
* Unrest in Spain: “Protesters hurled mud at Spain’s king, queen and prime minister as they visited a town ravaged by deadly floods, with some going as far as calling them ‘murderers.’ King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez were on Sunday visiting Paiporta, where a creek overflowed with such might last week that it swept away cars, trapped residents, and coated streets in thick mud and debris.”
