* Remember yesterday, when Republicans said they couldn’t cast this vote? “The continuing resolution to re-open the government has passed the Senate by voice vote. The Senate has also passed the Homeland Security vehicle by voice vote. The Senate then agreed to request a conference with the House on that.”
* The inevitable response: “President Donald Trump caved on the shutdown on Friday, sparking a predictable outcry from his most ardent and border wall-loving fans.”
* Crisis in Venezuela: “The U.S. State Department ordered all nonemergency government staff out of Venezuela on Thursday and advised other Americans in the country to leave.”
* Last night’s mass shooting: “Four people were killed and a fifth was seriously injured Thursday night in a shooting incident in north Georgia, authorities said. The shooter or shooters remained at large late Thursday.”
* What losing looks like: “Public disapproval of President Trump has swelled five points to 58 percent over three months as a majority of Americans continue to hold him and congressional Republicans most responsible for the partial federal government shutdown that ended Friday, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.” * An update on a story I recently mentioned: “The General Services Administration leases the Old Post Office to the Trump Organization. The GSA, in a post on its website this month, said it was authorized to pay the National Park Service to keep the observation tower open, even though the Park Service’s funds lapsed during the shutdown. The GSA said the money came from the Federal Buildings Fund, which is ‘primarily supported by rent paid to GSA from other federal entities.’” Anything to add? Consider this an open thread.
