Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* As Tricia noted earlier, polls show Rick Santorum looking strong in Louisiana in advance of tomorrow’s primary, but depending on the margin, delegate distribution may not give Santorum the boost he needs.
* Though Santorum’s options appear limited after Louisiana, he appears quite likely to win his home state of Pennsylvania, though its primary is not until April 24.
* A couple of weeks after losing a Democratic primary in his home state of Ohio, Rep. Dennis Kucinich is taking another trip to the state of Washington, where he appears to be interested in running for Congress, despite never having lived in the state.
* Virginia’s Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) made it official yesterday, kicking off his gubernatorial campaign. The election is not until next year, and Cuccinelli will face Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling in a Republican primary.
* With Wisconsin’s gubernatorial recall race only about 10 weeks away, the Republican Governors Association is intervening on behalf of Gov. Scott Walker (R). The RGA is airing a new attack ad targeting Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, Walker’s most likely Democratic challengers. * If web traffic dictated election outcomes, President Obama is in good shape: “More adults visited President Barack Obama’s campaign website in January than the four Republican hopefuls combined.” * Former Sen. Arlen Specter appeared on C-SPAN yesterday, and fielded a call from a viewer in Indiana. Before the caller could get to his question, Specter said, “Vote for Dick Lugar.” Given the degree to which Republicans dislike Specter, who left the GOP in 2009, the Indiana senator probably would have preferred his former colleague not say that on national television.
