Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* In five key 2012 battlegrounds, a new poll from Latino Decisions finds President Obama leading Mitt Romney by 36 points, 63% to 27%. In Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico, Obama’s lead is even larger.
* While Mitt Romney had a series of “Day One” ads, his campaign is now airing spots on Romney’s “First 100 Days.” There are state-specific versions airing in Iowa, North Carolina, and Virginia, but this one in Ohio is different: it doesn’t vow to kill the Affordable Care Act.
* The new poll from the Pew Research Center shows Obama leading Romney at the national level by four points, 50% to 46%. The same poll shows Democrats leading Republicans on the generic congressional ballot, 47% to 43%.
* Given Obama’s rescue of the American auto industry, over Romney’s objections, it’s hard to believe Michigan could be competitive this year, but the latest statewide poll shows the president leading by only one point.
* The presidential race will not be close in state of Washington, where Public Policy Polling shows Obama leading Romney, 54% to 41%. * In Florida, the latest Quinnipiac poll shows incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson (D) leading Rep. Connie Mack IV (R) by four points, 43% to 39%. * With GOP fundraising soaring, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) told msnbc this morning that wealthy Democrats ought to “stop being so precious” and start giving to allied super PACs. * After an overwhelmingly one-sided vote from its membership, MoveOn.org formally endorsed Obama’s re-election.
