Nearly an hour after the polls had closed in Virginia, the State Board of Elections announced it would pause the reporting of election results in order not to influence the high number of voters still in line waiting to vote.
With 8% of precincts reporting, most of them GOP leaning, Mitt Romney had an 18-point lead over President Obama.
Reporting of results is expected to resume after 8 p.m., although according to accounts on twitter, hundreds of people are still in line at some polling locations.
