President Barack Obama won a historic second term, overcoming the odds stacked against an incumbent president at the helm of a sluggish economy.
Obama, however, won handily—walking away with 51% of the vote in a sweep of all swing states except North Carolina, outpacing Romney by 124 electoral votes.
“I’ve never been more hopeful about our future. I’ve never been more hopeful for America,” Obama said in his acceptance speech. “And I ask you to sustain that hope.”
