Ray Lewis, a two-time Super Bowl winning former linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens has “a message for the rioters in Baltimore.”
“No way this can happen in our city. No. Young kids, you gotta understand something. Get off the streets. Violence is not the answer, violence has never been the answer,” Ray Lewis says direct-to-camera in a video posted to his Facebook page on Tuesday.
The clip had over 4.5 million views in just a few hours.

Lewis, who has a controversial history of violence himself, made impassioned plea for Baltimore protesters wreaking havoc to get off the streets. Lewis played his entire 17-year NFL career for the Baltimore Ravens, and is generally beloved in the city. He appears especially upset about the destruction of his current hometown.
“You don’t have no right to do what you’re doing to this city. Too many hard working people built this city. We put this city together, we put this city on our back. We’re with you. We know what’s going on. We know the problems. We know there was wrong done … but rioting in our streets is wrong. It’s dead wrong,” Lewis exclaims. The former NFL star also took to Twitter to express his frustration: #Violence is not the answer. We must have #peace in our #city, we are a city that's built on #Believing in each other. #BaltimoreRiots We must come together,we can stop the violence as a #community.These kids have to have real leaders,we need everybody to join this #movement
