Pope Francis is expected to become the first pontiff to address a joint meeting of Congress when he visits the United States in September, House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday.

The Catholic leader is expected to begin a four-day trip to the United States on Sept. 20, with stops in Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, D.C. He will visit the U.S. Capitol on Sept. 24 to speak in front of a joint meeting of Congress.
Boehner shared the news via his Twitter account on Thursday.
