President Barack Obama is scheduled to appear on a show about nothing.
Obama has already broken ground as the first sitting president to appear on a late night talk show; he’s ventured into web-series territory with a widely shared appearance on “Between Two Ferns” with Zach Galifianakis; and now he’s going to guest star on Jerry Seinfeld’s popular web-based series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”
The series, which is entering its seventh season, features the legendary comedian hanging out with fellow funny people. The Obama appearance was filmed earlier this month, in which the president and Seinfeld ride in a 1963 Corvette Stingray Split Window Coupe while talking about life in the White House. A trailer for the new season, which includes some off-camera Obama action, has already been released online:
“Growing up in the ’60s my kid dream was always to be an astronaut — doing a comedy show with President Obama in and around the White House felt like going into space,” Seinfeld said in a press release. “‘How did I get here?’ ‘Is this really happening?’ The president’s humor and generosity are the only reasons this was even possible. He was so easy and fun to be with. Being president and just a cool guy to hang out with at the same time made the experience my own personal moonwalk. It was an unforgettable day.”
