Mitt Romney says he isn’t worried about being called a wimp.
The Republican presidential candidate told CBS’ Jan Crawford on Sunday that he hasn’t seen Newsweek‘s cover, which features a photo of him next to the headline, “The Wimp Factor: Is He Just Too Insecure to Be President?” But he shrugged off the criticism.
“They tried that on George Herbert Walker Bush,” said Romney, referring to a 1987 Newsweek cover titled “George Bush: Fighting the ‘Wimp Factor.’”
“He was a pretty great president and anything but [a wimp],” said Romney.
When Crawford asked Romney if he was concerned about the “wimp” narrative, Romney replied, “If I worried about what the media said, I wouldn’t get much sleep. And I’m able to sleep pretty well.” He acknowledged he had never been called a wimp before.
