A Michigan Republican stepped down recently from his position on the Board of State Canvassers. And afterwards, he couldn’t resist taking a parting shot at none other than Rachel Maddow.
Jeff Timmer resigned last week amid a controversy over a Michigan law that allows emergency managers of municipalities and school districts to overrule the decisions of elected officials—a story The Rachel Maddow Show has been tracking closely for months.
Though opponents of the law managed to collect enough petition signatures to get a repeal question on the November ballot, the petitions were blocked by Timmer and the other Republican on the Board, who claimed they couldn’t be sure the font size conformed to the state’s specifications.
