Sen. Mark Kirk was caught on a hot mic jokingly declaring presidential candidate Sen. Lindsey Graham to be a “bro with no ho.”
“I’ve been joking with Lindsey,” Kirk is heard saying during a Senate meeting on Thursday in audio posted by the Huffington Post. “Did you see that? He’s going to have a rotating first lady. He’s a bro with no ho.”
Graham announced his White House bid earlier this month. He’s a long shot, but as one of Washington’s few lifelong bachelors, a fair few have asked who would be the South Carolina Republican’s first lady.

“We’ll have a rotating first lady,” Graham told the Daily Mail, also suggesting that his sister might fill that role.
“I feel real comfortable with who I am and the life I’ve lived. I’ve got a wonderful, supportive family. And the last time I checked, I didn’t see a sign on the White House that said ‘single people need not apply,’” Graham said last weekend in Iowa.
Later in the day, Kirk told Politico he regretted the comments.
“I believe that is the appropriate response,” Graham said afterward. Though Kirk is not running for president or in need of a potential first lady, the Illinois lawmaker is divorced and, therefore, also “a bro with no ho.” He is, however, being challenged for his Senate seat in 2016 by Democratic Rep. Tammy Duckworth, who quickly bought brosforkirk.com, which redirects to a fundraising page for the Democrat. Kirk is the latest in a long line of legislators to get caught making private comments when they didn’t realize microphones were still recording: Republican Sens. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul were caught discussing Democrats’ strategy during the government shutdown two years ago. Graham himself got caught on a hot mic last year, offering Secretary of State John Kerry “help” during a committee meeting on sending aid to Ukraine. New York Democrat Rep. Michael Grimm also famously threatened a reporter after an interview, as well.
