Kanye West tweeted an apology to Beck on Thursday, two weeks after storming the Grammy stage and later alleging the singer’s Album of the Year victory was fraudulent.

West’s mea culpa may not be that big of surprise considering the fact that during a Feb. 20 interview with Power 105.1’s popular radio show “The Breakfast Club,” the rapper admitted he hadn’t initially listened to Beck’s “Morning Phase” album and once he started to, he thought it was “kind of good.”
“I bet you that album is really good,” he added. “I’m going to listen to that album and maybe it was potentially an Album of the Year.”
Prior to that interview, West had repeatedly argued that his friend, singer Beyoncé, was more deserving of the Grammys’ most prestigious award. “Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé,” West told an E! News correspondent after the awards show.
Of course, West is now infamous for making his personal feelings known during awards shows. In 2009, he drew widespread criticism for interrupting a Taylor Swift acceptance speech at that year’s MTV Video Music Awards, again to defend Beyoncé. West has since made peace with Swift, and also appeared to be trying to make amends with another pop star he claims to have criticized in the past. “I also want to publicly apologize to Bruno Mars, I used to hate on him but I really respect what he does as an artist,” West tweeted after his apology to Beck. He told People magazine earlier this month with regards to Kanye, “I still love him and think he’s genius.”
