Just 34 percent of Americans correctly identify President Obama as a Christian, a new Gallup poll finds.
Forty-four percent of respondents said they didn’t know Obama’s religion, while 11 perent incorrectly said he’s a Muslim.
As Gallup notes, Obama is a Christian. While living in Chicago, he attended the Trinity United Church of Christ, and in Washington he has attended several different Christian churches.
More Americans can correctly identify Mitt Romney’s religion than Obama’s—even though Obama has been President for three and a half years and many voters still have only a hazy view of Romney. A separate Gallup poll found that 57 percent of respondents correctly identified Romney as a Mormon.
