“Jurassic World,” the latest chapter in the decades-old dinosaur saga, left a historical footprint at the box office over the weekend.
The film earned $511.8 million in weekend audience attendance from 66 international territories, making it the biggest global debut in history, according to the Associated Press.
Accumulating $204.6 million in the U.S., “Jurassic World” now was the second biggest domestic opening of all time, trailing $3 million behind “The Avengers.”
On Friday alone, “Jurassic World” made an estimated $82.8 million, which gave the franchise the third biggest opening day of all time.

“It is extraordinary. The film has resonated with audiences around the world,” said Nick Carpou, president of domestic distribution at Universal, which is a division of NBCUniversal.
