Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough on Tuesday praised Jeb Bush’s recent comments on the Republican Party’s ill-advised move toward partisanship and extremism.
Bush, the former governor of Florida, was immediately attacked by fellow Republicans for being off-message and Grover Norquist, founder of the Republicans’ “I won’t raise taxes” pledge, called his remarks “bizarre” and criticized his father, former President George H.W. Bush, for raising taxes during his term.
Scarborough, known as a moderate Republican has a message for them: “Just shut the hell up.”
“If I’m going on mTrade and trying to figure out if the future of the Republican Party belongs to Grover Norquist, who I know and like, or the Jeb Bushes of the world, I’m pretty confident Jeb wins,” he said during Tuesday’s Morning Joe, which included guest Bill Daley, former White House chief of staff (pictured in video after the jump).
He continued on to describe what that futuristic Republican Party looks like.
