Potential arch-rivals in next year’s presidential election, Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton, will share a stage together Friday in Florida.
Both Bush and Clinton are favorites for their respective party’s presidential nomination, and they are both set to address the National Urban League conference in Ft. Lauderdale as they make their case to black voters. Democrats Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley will also address the group, while Ben Carson was the only other Republican to agree to attend the civil rights organization’s summit.

It will be a reunion, of sorts, for the scions of two of the nation’s biggest political families. The last time Bush and Clinton appeared on a stage together, Bush presented Clinton with an award.
At a gala for the National Constitution Center, whose board Bush chaired, in September 2013 in Philadelphia, the Republican praised Clinton’s service. “Former Secretary Clinton has dedicated her life to serving and engaging people across the world in democracy,” Bush said. “These efforts as a citizen, an activist and a leader have earned Secretary Clinton this year’s Liberty Medal.”
For her part, Clinton said that her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and Bush’s father, former President George H.W. Bush, are “the classic odd couple of American politics.” “Jeb and I are not just renewing an American tradition of bipartisanship. We’re keeping up a family tradition as well,” she said. While in Bush’s home state of Florida Friday, Clinton will also give a speech calling on Congress to lift the trade embargo on Cuba and attacking Republicans — perhaps including Bush — who support it.
