When House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy unexpectedly withdrew from the race for speaker of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Twitter capitalized on one word: chaos.
Fellow California Rep. Eric Swalwell gave a face to the name when he tweeted a fake advertisement for an imaginary C-Span original series entitled “House of Chaos,” his not-so-subtle spin on Netflix’s mega-hit series “House of Cards”, a satire of one Republican congressman’s rise to power.
For his part, presidential candidate Donald Trump wasted no time in cheering the news of McCarthy’s exit. “We need a really smart and really tough person to take over this very important job,” the Republican tweeted about his fellow party member.
