How much would you be willing to wager on the presidential election?
On msnbc’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough and Obama Campaign Senior Strategist David Axelrod cooked up their own little wager. When challenged by Scarborough, Axelrod said he would shave off his mustache of 40 years if Obama loses any of these states: Minnesota, Michigan or Pennsylvania. Then, Scarborough agreed to grow a mustache if Obama wins either Florida or North Carolina.
Axelrod was asked again on Fox News Sunday if he thought he would be keeping his mustache. Axelrod said he was confident that he would be.
And, of course, now there’s a twitter handle for the mustache battle. It’s @AMJoesMoustache.
This isn’t the first time there’s been a facial hair faceoff in the media world. Chuck Todd, who is the chief White House Correspondent for NBC as well as the host of msnbc’s The Daily Rundown, was in involved in a battle over whether to shave off his signature goatee back in 2009. Todd and Jake Tapper, who works the White House beat for ABC News, made a facial hair bet over who would be the winner of baseball’s National League Championship series. If Chuck lost, he would shave off his goatee. If Jake lost, he would grow a goatee. But there was an escape clause for both men. They could give $1000.00 to a charity instead of shaving (or growing) facial hair. Chuck drew the short straw and, as you probably guessed, made a donation to a charity. We’ll find out on Tuesday (hopefully) who won the latest round in the facial hair faceoff. Who do you think will be the winner/loser?
