Establishment candidate David Perdue, a wealthy businessman, advanced Tuesday to a runoff election for the Republican nomination in the Georgia Senate race, according to the Associated Press.
No Republican candidate was able to grab 50% of the vote needed to avoid a runoff in July. The Associated Press said the second spot in the runoff election was still too close to call.
The eventual Republican nominee will go up against Democratic nominee Michelle Nunn, who won her primary on Tuesday. Nunn is the daughter of former longtime Sen. Sam Nunn, a Democrat.
